Wisconsin Wolfpack Seek Players, Staff

Wisconsin Wolfpack LogoThe Wisconsin Wolfpack will be holding player tryouts throughout the State of Wisconsin in January. Tryouts will be held in the Madison, Milwaukee, Appleton, and Racine areas.

The Wisconsin Wolfpack had a successful inaugural campaign in 2009, finishing the season 7-5 and making the Continental Indoor Football League's playoffs. They were defeated in the first round of the playoffs by the 2009 champions, the Chicago Slaughter.

The Wolfpack are looking for players committed to excellence for the 2010 season. The organization has set their goals high for 2010 and a championship is at the top of the list of goals.

Inaugural Wolfpack Indoor Season Ends with Playoff Loss

Wisconsin Wolfpack LogoA successful inaugural season for the Wisconsin Wolfpack in the Continental Indoor Football League came to a close Saturday night as it fell to the Chicago Slaughter, 63-19, in the 2009 CIFL Western Conference Championship Game.

In a repeat of the last meeting between the Wolfpack and the Slaughter, the Wolfpack struck first, finishing a 32-yard drive to start the game with a three-yard touchdown run by Tex Brown.  The Slaughter would score the next 42 points of the game, though, to take a commanding lead.

Wolfpack Hope Fourth Time's the Charm

2009 CIFL PlayoffsThe Wisconsin Wolfpack will battle the undefeated Chicago Slaughter in the first round of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) playoffs Saturday at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The Wolfpack and Slaughter played three times during the regular season, with the Slaughter coming out on top in all three games.

Wisconsin played the Slaughter tough in their first matchup on March 21, a 40-36 loss, that the Wolfpack had an opportunity to win late. However, the Slaughter really found their groove, beating the Wolfpack 67-22 at the Sears Centre on May 16, and 49-14 at the Alliant Energy Center on May 30.

Wolfpack Claim Last Playoff Spot

Wisconsin Wolfpack LogoThe Wolfpack sustained a second half surge by the Wheeling Wildcats to claim the final playoff spot in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL).  The Wolfpack led the Wildcats 34-12 at halftime and held on to win 49-46, making the playoffs in their inaugural season.

The Wolfpack will now play the undefeated Chicago Slaughter at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., on Saturday, June 20.

The Wolfpack needed to win as the Rock River Raptors came from behind to beat the Marion Mayhem, 43-40, in Marion, Ohio. A Wolfpack win or Raptors loss would've landed the Wolfpack in the playoffs.

Wolfpack Look to Clinch Final Playoff Spot Tonight

Wisconsin Wolfpack LogoThe Wisconsin Wolfpack (6-5) look to clinch the final playoff spot in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) tonight. The team travels to Wheeling, West Virginia,to play the WIldcats (2-9).  A win secures the final spot for the Wolfpack and they would then play the Chicago Slaughter for the fourth time this season.

The Wolfpack are tied with the Rock River Raptors (6-5), however.  A loss means the Wolfpack need the Raptors to lose to the Marion Mayhem (8-2), a game being played in Marion, Ohio tonight.

The Wolfpack own the tie-breaker over the Raptors by virtue of a 2-1 regular season record against them.

Wolfpack Strike First but Slaughter Complete Undefeated Regular Season

Wisconsin Wolfpack LogoAn emotional crowd, two goal-line stands and a 7-0 lead in the first quarter had the Wisconsin Wolfpack thinking upset Saturday against the Chicago Slaughter.  In the end, though, the Slaughter proved to have too much offense and completed its undefeated regular season with a 49-14 win over the Wolfpack at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The Slaughter (12-0), who have broken a number of Continental Indoor Football League offensive records in the 2009 season, struggled early.

The Slaughter have won the previous two meetings between the teams. Two weeks ago, Chicago beat the Wolfpack 67-22 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The first time the teams met back on March 21 at the Coliseum, the Wolfpack gave the Slaughter all they could handle, eventually falling 40-36.

Wolfpack Overcome Circumstances to Sink Silverbacks

Wisconsin Wolfpack LogoThe Wisconsin Wolfpack overcame a pre-game delay, a litany of penalties, an ejection and a two-game losing streak to capture a 53-30 win over the Miami Valley Silverbacks at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Saturday night.

Tom Kudyba, in his third game as the Wolfpack’s starting quarterback since Tom Stetzer’s season ended with a shoulder injury, navigated the Wolfpack (6-4) to their second win under his watch.  The biggest play of the night came in the third quarter when Kudyba found Reggie Davis for a 48-yard touchdown pass.  The Silverbacks (0-8) scored first to take a 6-0 lead, but the Wolfpack scored on their first possession and would not trail the rest of the night.

Wolfpack Return Home Saturday

The Wisconsin Wolfpack (5-4) return home Saturday to play the Miami Valley SIlverbacks (0-7) at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 7 p.m.

The Wolfpack enter the game on a two-game skid, losing to the Marion Mayhem at the Coliseum two weeks ago and on the road to the Chicago Slaughter last week. Both Marion and Chicago are in first place in their respective divisions.

The back-to-back losses have knocked the Wolfpack defense out of the top spot, as they now rank third in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) in defense. The offense has only managed 41 points in those losses.

The Silverbacks come into the game winless. They are dead last in scoring offense and rank sixth in scoring defense. The Silverbacks are averaging just 16 points per game while their defense is allowing 44 points.

Aerial Assault at the Sears Centre

Wisconsin Wolfpack LogoFans at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., were treated to a three-person aerial performance Saturday night. Chicago Slaughter (10-0) quarterback Russ Michna teamed up with Bobby Sippio and Dontrell Jackson on 18 passes totaling 293 yards and seven touchdowns en route to a 67-22 drubbing of the Wolfpack (5-4).

The Slaughter pulled out to a 14-0 first quarter lead. The Wolfpack would get on the board just seconds into the second quarter on a three-yard touchdown run by Derrick Brown.

Michna and Sippio connected for two second quarter touchdowns and Wolfpack kicker Paul Schroeder booted a 31-yard field goal, giving the Slaughter a 27-9 halftime lead.

Missing Pieces Hurt Wolfpack in Loss to Mayhem

Wisconsin Wolfpack LogoMissing a number of key components, the Wisconsin Wolfpack failed to score in the first half and suffered the worst loss in its brief existence, falling to the Marion Mayhem, 59-19, at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum Saturday night.

Quarterback Tom Kudyba, running back and kick returner Derek “Tex” Brown, linebacker James Kamoku and defensive back Trey Bell were all unavailable to the Wolfpack (5-3) for a variety of reasons.

Attempting to replace Kudyba, absent for personal reasons, was his brother, Chris, but as the fourth Wolfpack quarterback in four games, Chris struggled to connect with his receivers in the same way his brother did in the Wolfpack’s 69-26 win over the Milwaukee Bonecrushers on May 2.
