Brent enrolled at UW-Whitewater after a standout career at Mukwonago High School. 

He was a three-year starter with the Warhawks at center. He was given the Rimington Trophy for Division III in 2007. The award is given yearly to the top centers in each division of college football. 

He was named to the All-WIAC team in 2006 and, in 2007, he was named to both the All-WIAC and the D3football.com All-American teams.  

While at Whitewater, he played in three Stagg Bowls for the Division III championship and was able to help the Warhawks take home the gold trophy his senior season.
