The Wisconsin Wolfpack (5-4) return home Saturday to play the Miami Valley SIlverbacks (0-7) at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 7 p.m.
The Wolfpack enter the game on a two-game skid, losing to the Marion Mayhem at the Coliseum two weeks ago and on the road to the Chicago Slaughter last week. Both Marion and Chicago are in first place in their respective divisions.
The back-to-back losses have knocked the Wolfpack defense out of the top spot, as they now rank third in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) in defense. The offense has only managed 41 points in those losses.
The Silverbacks come into the game winless. They are dead last in scoring offense and rank sixth in scoring defense. The Silverbacks are averaging just 16 points per game while their defense is allowing 44 points.
The Wolfpack hope to right the ship against the Silverbacks Saturday. Wisconsin currently holds just a half-game lead over the Rock River Raptors (5-5) in the battle for the final playoff spot in the CIFL. The Wolfpack have a difficult schedule after the SIlverbacks game, hosting the undefeated CHicago Slaughter and then traveling to Wheeling, West Virginia to battle the WIldcats.
The Wolfpack magic number over the Raptors is two. If the Wolfpack win two of their final three games, they will make the CIFL playoffs. |
